  “I don’t know,” was Peter’s less than satisfactory reply. Given Lawrence had warned them they couldn’t harm his mate’s brother, she couldn’t shake or slap the boy. But it was tempting.

  Lena’s irritation emerged in a tense, “What do you mean, you don’t know? Your sister got kidnapped by the people looking for it. Hell, you went missing for months because of it.”

  Peter shrugged. “I wish I could tell you more, but something happened to me while I was lost in that forest in Russia.”

  “I hear Lawrence had you sprung from prison.”

  “A misunderstanding.”

  “How did you end up in there?”

  “No idea. The doctors think I might have suffered a head injury since I don’t remember much of the last six months.”

  “Convenient.” Lena remarked.

  “Too convenient,” was Lenore’s addition.

  And it bugged the curious cats especially since every search they did came up empty, which was why, when Andrei Medvedev reached out to the Lions’ Pride, asking how he could repair the damage his sister had wrought, they sent their smartest lioness to meet him, with a simple mission.
